I need a man.

Not the panicked kind of need. Not the grasping kind. The quiet kind. The kind that has always been true for me.

I am a traditional woman. The way I move through a home, the way I pour into my man, the way my body is tuned, partnership is woven into all of it. It is not something I am looking for. It is something I live inside of.

Most women have been told that needing a man is the wrong answer. That wanting one is more evolved. More liberated.  Safer somehow.  I have never lived inside that story.

There is a particular quality to a woman who knows she needs her man.  You can feel it when she walks into a room.  Her hands move differently.  Her home smells like something.  Her shoulders are not braced.  She is not auditioning.  She is not keeping score.  She is rooted in a way that only happens when a woman has stopped pretending partnership is optional for her.
